Elements of the Mexico City Citizen Security Secretariat (SSC) managed to detain six people allegedly linked to the crime of extortion under the modality of virtual kidnapping. The action was carried out as a result of investigation work derived from a citizen complaint, which allowed the activation of an operation to locate the possible suspects. According to official information, the detainees were identified as Jorge Emiliano “N”, Beatriz “N”, Ana Laura “N”, Roberto “N”, Fabiola “N”, and Emilio “N”, who allegedly formed part of a criminal cell dedicated to this type of illicit activities. Another vehicle was also secured, which was presumably used by those involved as support for their criminal activities. These seizures form part of the evidence that could be integrated into the investigation to determine the responsibility of the detainees and fully clarify the facts. The arrests were made in the Tlalpan and Coyoacán mayoralties, where authorities deployed specialized work teams. Through threats and psychological manipulation, they seek to obtain money or goods without there being a real kidnapping. This type of crime has been recurrent in different areas of the country, so authorities recommend staying calm, verifying the information, and immediately reporting any extortion attempt. As part of the operation, surveillance cordons were implemented to track the suspects' movements and locate them. The use of technological tools allowed agents to coordinate field actions and act promptly, preventing the crime from being fully consummated or from continuing to affect other potential victims.
