Mexico City police arrest suspect in 2013 femicide case

Mexico City police have arrested Gerardo R., accused of the femicide of Blanca Ruth. The victim was the main witness in the 2002 Narezo Loyola family massacre case.


Police officers in Mexico City have arrested Gerardo R., accused of the femicide of Blanca Ruth, whose body was found dead by strangulation and asphyxiation on June 19, 2013. The young woman was also the main witness in the multi-homicide of the Narezo Loyola family, which occurred in 2002. As a result of desk and field investigation work, police officers from the Citizen Security Secretariat (SSC), in coordination with agents from the Investigative Police (PDI) of the Attorney General's Office (FGJ), both from Mexico City, executed the arrest warrant against Gerardo R. for the crime of aggravated femicide, for an event that occurred in 2013, on the streets of the Coyoacán mayor's office. The police action was carried out following the investigation of the femicide that occurred on June 19, 2013, in the Coyoacán mayor's office, in which the victim was identified as the main witness in the multi-homicide of the Narezo Loyola family that took place in 2002. Following investigations by Mexico City authorities and intelligence work, the probable responsible party was identified on Avenida Del Imán, in the Pedregal del Maurel neighborhood, in the Coyoacán mayor's office. At the scene, uniformed officers intercepted the 52-year-old man, informed him of his constitutional rights, and placed him at the disposal of the authority that requires him in a penitentiary center in Mexico City.

The Narezo Loyola Massacre

In November 2002, a homicide was reported inside a house in the Toriello Guerra neighborhood, in Tlalpan, in which five bodies were found, which belonged to a complete family, the Narezo Loyola family, as well as twelve domestic workers. According to media reports, the victims were beheaded and attacked with a weapon. A man was identified as the material author and remains in prison.
