President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo revealed during the People's Morning conference that, despite having taken office as national leader 22 days ago, she still does not reside in the National Palace. The leader shared that every morning at 5:40 a.m., she arrives at the venue before her meeting with the Security Cabinet at 6:00 a.m. In a video circulated on social media, soldiers are seen greeting her arrival with honors.
As she heads to the Security meeting, Sheinbaum is received with the flag salute, marches, and greetings from the present soldiers. After the welcome protocol, the president is scheduled to hold the People's Morning conferences from Monday to Friday at 7:30 a.m., press conferences where she addresses various topics and answers reporters' questions.
Sheinbaum clarified that she continues to live in her house or apartment, and not in the National Palace, as had been speculated. Before assuming her position, she had announced that she would move to the venue along with her husband, Jesús María Tarriba Unger. However, the leader confirmed that she currently continues to spend her nights in her apartment.
In previous statements before her inauguration, Sheinbaum mentioned that following the decision of former President Andrés Manuel López Obrador to reside in the National Palace, she would follow that example. Despite this, and the relocation of the López Obrador family to that place, Sheinbaum detailed that she will continue living in her apartment for the time being.
