Jorge Romero Herrera, candidate for the national presidency of the PAN, called for the beginning of unity work among party members. He dismissed the accusations of leading a real estate cartel in Mexico City, stating that they lack legal grounds. He assured that they aim to be a leadership that integrates everyone without distinctions or divisions.
Regarding the case of Genaro García Luna, sentenced to 38 years in prison last week, Romero pointed out that this issue is closed for the party as it pertains to individual conduct. He underscored that García Luna's responsibility does not fall on the National Action Party, as these actions go beyond the organization.
Romero Herrera expressed his willingness to consider proposals, even from those who have questioned his candidacy. He stated that he will not distance himself from figures such as Marko Cortés, Ricardo Anaya, or Felipe Calderón, whom he invited to join the party in favor of unity. He highlighted that these figures, according to him, were subject to persecution by federal authorities and the Mexico City government.
The candidate defended his position of not distancing himself from different PAN profiles and said he is open to integrating relevant leaders who wish to join the ranks of the party. He emphasized that he seeks to open up to citizens' aspirations, while requesting not to be pressured to make quick decisions regarding candidacies.
Romero Herrera made it clear that his intention is to invite Felipe Calderón to rejoin the PAN, despite not intending to distance himself from any of the mentioned political figures. He emphasized that the issue surrounding Calderón is behind, as he believes that the events related to him occurred in another context and territory, individually and unrelated to the institution.
