
President Claudia Sheinbaum led a conference at the National Palace together with her health cabinet, focused on the topic of 'Mexican Humanism and Historical Memory'. During it, the issue of egg prices per kilogram was addressed, mentioning the cheapest and most expensive places to buy this food.
Between October 14 and 18, it was found that branches such as El Dorado and Insurgentes in Mexico City offered eggs at 36.00 pesos per kilogram. On the other hand, it was highlighted that the crime of extortion has experienced an increase of 18.3% from September 2019 to September 2024.
Marcela Figueroa, Secretary of the National Security System, mentioned that homicides are concentrated in entities such as Guanajuato, Baja California, State of Mexico, Chihuahua, Jalisco, Guerrero, and Nuevo León. It was emphasized that the trend of intentional homicides has decreased from the first half of 2019 until 2024, with a reduction of 13.4% in the daily number of victims.
In another context, Omar García Harfuch, Secretary of Security and Citizen Protection, presented a report on the first 28 days of Sheinbaum's government. The detentions of 824 people for high-impact crimes were highlighted, as well as the seizure of large quantities of drugs and arms. The NationalGuard was praised for its role in rescue operations and the detention of violent individuals.
Furthermore, the arrests of significant criminal leaders were mentioned, highlighting actions such as the capture of a person for fentanyl trafficking in Baja California, among other arrests. The places where egg prices are higher were also detailed, as occurred in branches in Tijuana and Monterrey.
In another aspect addressed, information about the states with the highest homicide rates was provided, and an analysis of the price of white eggs in the country was presented. When questioned about the violence in Chiapas, Sheinbaum announced that work is being done on a strategy to counteract insecurity in that entity, involving social aspects and the creation of welfare centers in areas like Tapachula.
Finally, Alejandro Gertz Manero, Attorney General of the Republic, expressed his concern about the lack of information from U.S. authorities regarding the arrest of 'El Mayo' Zambada, stating that they will continue to insist on clarity on this issue.
