Discovery of Drug Tunnel Shocks Mexico City Authorities

Journalist Carlos Jiménez reported that the authorities of Mexico City located a drug tunnel in the Xochimilco borough, a surprising discovery both for its location and for its design, similar to the style of Joaquín 'El Chapo' Guzmán, leader of the Sinaloa Cartel. What was unusual was that this tunnel led to an unexpected destination.

According to initial reports, the drug tunnel was found inside a house that was apparently used as a drug sales point. Authorities were intrigued that it connected that house with another nearby and reached the rooftop of a third property.

In a video shared on social media by Jiménez, the tunnel is seen formed by a rudimentary ladder made of rubble and stones, filled with trash and soda bottles, indicating precarious conditions but also recent and constant use.

Elements of the Citizen Security Secretariat were the ones who located the drug tunnel during an operation and arrested at least three men involved in drug sales. It has not yet been revealed if the tunnel had other connections or more people involved.

The Attorney General's Office is already investigating to determine the extent of the illicit activities in that location and possible connections with criminal groups in urban areas like Xochimilco.
