The race for the head of CNDH becomes contentious with three candidates from Morena. Nashieli Ramírez, Paulina Hernández Diz, and Rosario Piedra Ibarra vie for support amid political tensions and implied alliances.

Challenge for CNDH Leadership in Mexico City

For the designation of the new head of the National Human Rights Commission, the finalists are Nashieli Ramírez, ombudsperson of Mexico City, Paulina Hernández Diz, and Rosario Piedra Ibarra. Although Morena has three own candidates and the necessary support for the appointment, the election has become complicated. Nashieli could be seen as close to the government of Claudia Sheinbaum, raising uncertainty about her candidacy. On the other hand, Piedra Ibarra has generated division within the Morena caucus, while Paulina is linked to Adán Augusto.

In the case of Paulina Hernández Diz, her extensive experience is highlighted with over ten diplomas, a Master's in Law from UdeG, and 14 years of work in the gender agenda. Although she has a law degree from the University of Valle de México, which would make her fully meet the requirements, her election is not free from controversies.

On the other hand, Nashieli Ramírez has been recognized for her extensive 25-year career in activism and social work. Although she scored the highest in the evaluation, doubts have arisen about whether she meets all the requirements established in the call, which preferably asks for a degree in law.

In this context, it is pointed out that the election of the new head of the CNDH will take place amid a dispute for power and the influences of the different political actors involved. It is questioned whether in times of Morena the support of 'godmothers and godfathers' weighs more than merit to hold relevant positions. Uncertainty persists, as none of the candidates manage to generate consensus among the party members.
