The Mobility Secretariat (Semovi) announced that starting Saturday, November 16, a link will be available for drivers in Mexico City and the State of Mexico to schedule their appointment to obtain the new permanent driver's license. This procedure, which will officially start this month, will be available even during the holiday weekend.
To carry out the process, the head of government, Clara Brugada, indicated that a macro module will be located in Magdalena Mixhuca with the capacity to issue up to 15,000 licenses per day. Starting Monday, November 18, drivers will also be able to go to 35 modules located at different points in the capital.
These 35 modules will be distributed as follows: 11 at the Mobility Secretariat open from 9:00 AM to 9:00 PM, Monday to Sunday; 8 in some municipalities of CDMX open from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday to Sunday; 10 at the Secretariat of Administration and Finance open from 9:00 AM to 9:00 PM, Monday to Sunday; and 6 at the Express Treasury open from 9:00 AM to 9:00 PM, Monday to Sunday.
To request an appointment, it is necessary to access the link provided by the Mobility Secretariat through the Semovi Online Appointment System. A CDMX Key account is required to log in. If the person does not have one, the system will guide them in its creation.
Those without a Type 'A' license background from Mexico City must pass a theoretical exam based on the Mobility Law and the capital's Traffic Regulations. On the day of the appointment, it will be necessary to present proof of residence from Mexico City or the State of Mexico, as well as an official identification.
It is important to mention that individuals without a prior appointment will not be able to access the macro module set up for this purpose, and those with convictions for traffic incidents or who have been sanctioned by the 'Drive Without Alcohol' program will not be able to apply for the permanent license. The CURP must be ready, and the corresponding payment for the issuance of the new permanent license must be made.
