The Head of Government of Mexico City, Claudia Sheinbaum, indicated that Ricardo Monreal should explain the use of a helicopter for his movements, clarifying that the payment for private air transportation is not of a public nature. Monreal argued that he uses the aircraft in emergency cases and to travel quickly, in addition to mentioning that it is a work tool he has employed for 25 years.
Journalist Marcos Silva revealed that a private helicopter flight from Mexico City to Toluca would cost more than 102 thousand pesos. The aircraft used, an Italian-made Agusta AW109, has a value of 5,100 dollars for that trip, which lasts between 14 and 20 minutes. In addition, this helicopter has eight seats and is also used for medical and rescue services.
For her part, President Sheinbaum urged Monreal to set an example for society regarding the use of resources and government austerity. In this sense, she emphasized the need to avoid making the government perceived as wealthy in contrast to an impoverished people.
