Political Dispute in CDMX: Struggle Between PRD and Morena

The fight for control of the PRD in Mexico City intensifies following the incorporation of former mayor Víctor Hugo Lobo, who operates as a deputy for Morena. Tensions between factions rise with challenges against president Nora Arias and the threat of new alliances in the political landscape.

Political Dispute in CDMX: Struggle Between PRD and Morena

The former mayor of Gustavo Madero, Víctor Hugo Lobo, would have joined an initiative in the Party of the Democratic Revolution (PRD), according to internal sources. It is said that Lobo, currently a federal deputy for Morena, is supporting this campaign from San Lázaro.

The PRD acknowledges that Lobo's participation presents a conflict, given that he left the party to join Morena after being unable to compete for the Head of Government and due to differences with Nora Arias. The struggle continues, and new actors have recently joined the scene, as the party leadership in Mexico City claims that Víctor Hugo Lobo is behind the legal attacks to invalidate the PRD's registration in the capital.

In this context, a new confrontation has emerged between Nora Arias, the Chilanga president, and the group Los Chuchos, who seek to regain influence and positions within the party in the absence of clear national leadership.

Despite attempts by Los Chuchos and other local members to challenge Nora Arias's leadership, she has formed an alliance with Morena in Mexico City. Additionally, her son, Víctor Hugo Lobo Rodríguez, is a local deputy for that party. Despite the tensions, voices within the local leadership of the PRD believe that the legal attacks will not succeed and Los Chuchos will not establish themselves in the capital.

These disputes arise after the PRD of Mexico City obtained its registration from the Electoral Institute, despite the unfavorable results in the June elections. According to a PRD source, tensions continue, and the party is expected to remain firm in its position in the capital.
