Clara Brugada stated: "We said we would prepare the city to welcome the world with order, security, and a quality urban experience, and that's what we're doing." She is already working in coordination with local and federal authorities on the various operations that will be carried out during the FIFA World Cup. The opening match of the FIFA World Cup between Mexico and South Africa on June 11 is getting closer for the capital government led by Clara Brugada, who demands maximum attention and preparation from her team for this sporting event. In this context, the head of government announced on Tuesday special preparations for the reopening of the Azteca Stadium, which will take place this Saturday. For this, a mobility operation and more than ten thousand security agents will be deployed throughout the capital. This Saturday afternoon, the Mexican national team will face Portugal at the reopening of the iconic stadium that has already hosted the men's World Cups in 1970 and 1986 and the women's World Cup in 1971. "We want a World Cup of fair play and a just society, where it's not only experienced by those who enter the stadium, but by the entire population, with sports, social, and cultural activities in the city," she added. The World Cup is accelerating rent increases, and Sánchez Barrios seeks to regulate Airbnb. In this context, on Wednesday the head of government will inaugurate new works in the vicinity of the Azteca Stadium. Last week, she did the same by announcing the start of work on the Rain Garden, located in Santa Úrsula Coapa, which will absorb rainwater during the upcoming season and, in this way, prevent flooding in the Coyoacán borough. "We have the logistics, the organization, and the capacity to offer the best experience to both those who visit us and those who live here," highlighted Clara Brugada at a press conference. Brugada expects two million people at the World Cup and coordinates security with boroughs. As she explained, for this Saturday the capital government will deploy a special operation called "Kukulkan" that will include the deployment of 10,835 elements from the Security and Armed Forces at various points in the capital. For this, she announced, the service of Metro Lines 1, 2, and 9 will be reinforced, and five connection points will be enabled from areas of high concentration such as Reforma, Polanco, Santa Fe, Roma, and the Benito Juárez International Airport. For the CDMX government, this weekend's event is a "dress rehearsal" for what will happen in June, when five World Cup matches will be played, for which the arrival of at least two million people is expected. "The work this weekend will serve to evaluate and improve," said the local Secretary of Security, Pablo Vázquez Camacho. The head of government, Clara Brugada, during Tuesday's press conference. Additionally, her counterpart for Mobility, Héctor Ulises García Nieto, detailed that there will also be a special operation related to public transport, as parking for private vehicles will not be opened, as access to the Azteca Stadium by this type of mobility will be heavily controlled. Security and mobility are not the only challenges facing her government, as the same applies to culture, tourism, infrastructure, and metropolitan coordination, among other aspects. To this end, the head of government is preparing a series of actions and special operations to ensure the FIFA World Cup is held in the best possible way, given its importance for the world capital, which is expected to be visited by two million people and watched by the rest of the countries participating in the competition. As detailed by LPO, security is one of the main concerns for the capital administration. "The city is ready. In the Old City Hall, they know that a good job will contribute to the electoral strategy for next year and to Brugada's own political career, but that a bad one could generate unpredictable consequences for CDMX. For this reason, the central government coordinates with the boroughs and the federal government the works that will be carried out during the World Cup to combat, among other things, organized crime, human trafficking, and the illegal sale of alcohol. Of the 10,835 agents to be deployed this weekend, 8,814 belong to the local Secretariat of Security, while the remaining 2,021 will be made available by the Army, the Navy, and the National Guard. Additionally, there will be a deployment of drones, helicopters, intelligence agencies, and gender units in the vicinity of the Azteca Stadium as well as in red spots in other areas, such as the center of Coyoacán, the Basilica of Guadalupe, the Roma-Condesa corridor, Santa Fe, and the Zócalo.
