Mexico City authorities have unveiled a new security perimeter system for the Banorte Stadium, to be used for the Mexico vs. Portugal match. Changes will affect both pedestrian and vehicle access to the stadium.

In Mexico City, security at the stadium will be managed through a perimeter control system. The outer perimeter, where vehicle traffic is restricted, will span 1,600 meters. The intermediate 'security' perimeter is the first point of access for pedestrians, where initial checks begin. The inner, or 'sterilized' perimeter, is the most restricted and is only accessible to ticket holders, accredited individuals, and residents of the sealed-off area. The first test of this new system will take place on March 28th for the Mexico vs. Portugal match as part of the preparations for the 2026 World Cup. For fans, designated taxi pick-up and drop-off zones will be available on Viaducto Tlalpan, Renato Leduc, and Paseo Acoxpa. Authorities will also implement special public transport alternatives, including Metro, Trolebús, and Metrobús.
