A security operation in Mexico City resulted in the detention of 53 individuals identified as Club América fans. They were heading to the Azteca Stadium for the match against Nashville. According to capital authorities, the detainees were intercepted while traveling on buses in the Iztacalco borough.

During a vehicle inspection as part of the 'Safe Stadium' operation, elements of the Citizen Security Secretariat detected that the group was carrying fireworks, smoke bombs, alcoholic beverages, and presumably stolen merchandise. After the inspection, officers ordered the passengers to disembark and proceeded with their detention.

The 53 detainees were taken in a line to the facilities of the Mexico City Prosecutor's General Office, where their legal status will be determined. Authorities have not yet detailed whether all of them will face charges or if some will be released after the first proceedings.

To reinforce security at the stadium, as part of the security operation, Auxiliary Police personnel maintain inspection filters at the Azteca Stadium entrances to prevent incidents during the match. Additionally, the Traffic Control Subsecretariat implemented a traffic operation on the Calzada de Tlalpan and adjacent areas to facilitate the mobility of attendees and residents. Authorities reiterated that they will continue with preventive inspections to avoid risky behavior and protect attendees at this type of event.
