The 2024 Mexico City Grand Prix established a partnership with ARZYZ, an aluminum company in Mexico, to raise awareness about single-use plastics by introducing 100% recyclable aluminum cups. This partnership underscores the company's commitment to environmental and social sustainability, highlighting the circular economy as a fundamental aspect.
During the three days of the competition, ARZYZ will provide 1,420,900 aluminum cups at the Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez, to keep attendees hydrated in an eco-friendly manner. Spectators have the opportunity to take the cups home as a souvenir and subsequently deposit them at one of the 20 collection points available or hand them to one of the 60 environmental agents present.
The collected cups will be transported to recycling plants in Nuevo León for transformation into new products, such as aluminum alloy ingots. Recycled aluminum finds applications in various industrial sectors, emphasizing its importance within the circular economy promoted by ARZYZ at the sporting event.
ARZYZ has maintained a focus on the circular economy for more than forty years, turning waste into resources for the future. More than 60% of its production comes from recycled sources, allowing for efficient resource management, energy savings, and reduction of CO2 emissions. This collaboration aligns with Formula 1's "F1 Net Zero 2030" program, which aims to completely eliminate carbon emissions generated each season of the championship.
