
The 27-year-old driver participated in the second free practice at the Hermanos Rodríguez Autodrome, while his teammate did not return to the track. Franco Colapinto was unable to improve his position and finished in fifteenth place, more than a second behind Ferrari's Carlos Sainz Jr., who led the session.
In the qualifying session that will take place today at 6 PM (Argentina time), Colapinto will aim to secure a good spot on the starting grid for the Mexican Grand Prix race on Sunday at 5 PM. In the second free practice, Australian driver Oscar Piastri from McLaren recorded the fastest lap, closely followed by his teammate Lando Norris.
Carlos Sainz Jr. from Ferrari placed third, completing an excellent weekend of free practices by being on the podium in all three sessions. World champion Max Verstappen finished fourth and expressed his annoyance at having to change engines due to a leak in the air intake circuit.
In the first free practice, Colapinto finished eleventh, while in the third session, he placed thirteenth. Despite not making it into the top ten in the practices, the Argentinian continues to work on improving his performance ahead of the qualifying and the race in Mexico.
