The Autodromo de los Hermanos Rodriguez witnessed a dispute between Mexican driver Sergio ‘Checo’ Pérez and Helmut Marko, consultant of Red Bull Racing, after the qualifying session of the 2024 Mexico Grand Prix. The difference between Pérez and Marko arose due to the issues the Mexican driver claimed to have experienced in the last three races, a situation Marko strongly denied.

In statements after being eliminated in Q1 of the qualifying session, ‘Checo’ Pérez mentioned braking problems as the main difficulty he faced. The driver indicated that he struggled to brake the car and explained that he had already discussed the matter with the mechanics, but there was no quick solution due to Red Bull's aerodynamic limitations to address this situation.

On the other hand, Helmut Marko rejected Pérez's claims by pointing out that they had not received complaints about the brakes from the Mexican driver up to that point. Marko stated that they needed to thoroughly examine the issues and find the root cause of them, as Pérez had mentioned suffering from brake problems, but it was necessary to investigate to determine the true reason.

In qualifying, the ‘pole position’ went to Carlos Sainz, while Charles Leclerc was in second place before being overtaken by Max Verstappen and Lando Norris, who took Red Bull and McLaren to the top positions. ‘Checo’ Pérez, after a complicated qualifying session, ended up in 18th position and will have to start from there in the 2024 Mexico Grand Prix.

The rest of the competitors also secured their positions on the starting grid, promising an exciting race at the Mexican circuit.
