The governor of Jalisco, Pablo Lemus, handed over the rehabilitation of the Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) in the municipality of Mexticacán, with the aim of strengthening the sanitation of water that integrates into the water system that supplies the Guadalajara Metropolitan Area (AMG). The intervention was carried out by the General Strategic Coordination of the Territory, the Ministry of Comprehensive Water Management (SGIA) and the Jalisco Water Commission (CEA). "It is very important to be able to clean water in all regions of Jalisco, to guarantee this human right to clean water [...] This [treatment plant], precisely, already discharges clean water into the Mexticacán River, which in turn goes to the Verde River, passes through [the dam] El Zapotillo, reaches the Guadalajara Metropolitan Area and also reaches the Santiago River," affirmed Lemus. From Mexticacán we deliver a new treatment plant that is already operating for the benefit of our state, see how it turned out: The WWTP sanitizes water flowing towards the Calderón dam, from which it is diverted to Purifier No. 3, part of the supply system of the Guadalajara Metropolitan Area (AMG). It also contributes to improving water quality in the Verde Grande–Santiago River basin, in compliance with NOM-001-SEMARNAT-2021. The work required an investment of 5.4 million pesos (mdp) and restored the operation of the plant with a treatment capacity of eight liters per second, to the direct benefit of more than three thousand inhabitants. The plant, built in 2012, underwent a comprehensive rehabilitation to restore its operation. "This water will allow you to use it for tall-stem irrigation in green areas, and this plant is a plant of eight liters per second, that can treat the total water of the Municipal Head," detailed Ernesto Marroquín Álvarez, head of the Ministry of Comprehensive Water Management. The works included the rehabilitation of pre-treatment systems, sumps, pumping equipment, biological reactor, sedimentation tanks and disinfection system, as well as the installation of flow meters and equipment for reuse of treated water. The municipality will be responsible for the operation and maintenance, with technical advice from the State Water Commission. During the tour, the state executive supervised the intervention of Highway 205, in the Yahualica de González Gallo–Teocaltiche section. "[It is a work] very important, especially for the safety of all users, to travel with much safety on roads that have the highest quality," ratified Pablo Lemus. The work is part of a multi-year road rehabilitation program that includes patching, pavement reconstruction, signage and drainage improvements.
