Veolia Mexico was recognized during the Waste Expo 2025 for its achievements in hazardous waste management at its facility in Mina, Nuevo León. The award highlights the importance of responsible waste management practices and public-private partnerships in sustainability.


Veolia Mexico Wins Waste Management Award

During the Waste Expo 2025, the third edition of the Lifetime Achievement Award in Waste Management was held, where Veolia Mexico was recognized for its Hazardous and Special Waste Treatment and Final Disposal Center in Nuevo León. The award, presented by DS Latam, aims to highlight good practices in integrated management that contribute to responsible environmental management and community development.

In the ceremony, Francisco Galván Meraz, President of DS Latam, emphasized the importance of public-private collaboration models to strengthen waste management in the country. In addition to Veolia Mexico, municipalities and concessionary companies were awarded for their operational excellence, and special mentions were given to projects and posthumous recognitions in the sector.

Veolia's Treatment Center in Mina covers nearly 1,300 hectares and a buffer zone of more than 10,000 hectares, making it one of the most relevant facilities at the national level for the safe management of complex industrial waste. With an operational capacity to treat around 250,000 tons of waste per year, the plant operates under high-level technical and regulatory standards.

The Mina plant stands out for its comprehensive sustainability approach, incorporating various processes to ensure operational safety and long-term risk mitigation. Veolia Mexico has demonstrated a strong commitment to social and environmental responsibility, promoting environmental education, reforestation activities, support programs for vulnerable communities, and cultural and sports actions with a community focus.

The recognition awarded to Veolia Mexico reaffirms its leadership in responsible waste management and its commitment to a circular and low-carbon economy aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals. The regional manager of Veolia Mexico, Fernando Valadez Quintero, expressed during the award ceremony the importance of rethinking the value of waste and seeing it as an opportunity for transformation.
