Hospital Reconstruction in Misantla Revived

The state government, following President Claudia Sheinbaum's directive, is reviving the long-abandoned Misantla Hospital project to benefit 30,000 people.

In 2013, it was proposed to resume the reconstruction of the Hospital de Misantla, in Veracruz, a project left unfinished since 2009 that has the potential to benefit around 30,000 people in the region. The state administration at that time rejected the project, citing insufficient funds.

Under the instruction of President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo, IMSS Bienestar and the Government of the state of Veracruz have begun collaborative work to rescue the hospital. During an inspection led by Gabriel Padrón Segura and other local authorities, the current conditions of the infrastructure were thoroughly reviewed.

During the supervision, it was agreed to hold working meetings between the infrastructure team of IMSS Bienestar and the Secretariat of Infrastructure and Public Works in Veracruz to determine the necessary studies and ensure the quality of construction and the operability of the future hospital.

"It is essential for the hospital to have quality water, electricity, and fiber optic installations," stated Padrón Segura. The project would benefit 30,000 people in the region after a decade of abandonment. The aim is for specialized teams to evaluate the conditions of the building to establish a diagnosis of its structural state and define the necessary actions for its completion.

The reconstruction process will involve identifying key needs and complementary services outside, such as sanitary and hydraulic networks, electrical ducts, telecommunications, security systems, repaving, access roads, and energy services in coordination with the Federal Electricity Commission (CFE). The intervention of Civil Protection of the state of Veracruz will also be requested to verify possible soil damage.

The initial investment estimated at 125 million pesos has been affected by years of abandonment, raising the damage to the public purse to over 900 million pesos.
