Economic Forecasts Signal Concerns for Nuevo León

Economic forecasts had already anticipated a weakening of growth in Mexico for 2025. According to Zelina Fernández, General Director at Index Nuevo León, they are assessing the total impact on affiliated companies. Nuevo León accounts for approximately 11% of the national total, making it one of the regions most exposed to these measures.

Fernández pointed out that according to the Economic Expectations survey of the Bank of Mexico, a growth of 0.8% is expected for the country's economy. The implementation of these tariffs could further compromise economic performance at both the state and national levels. Preliminary data from a sample of 35 companies suggest an average impact of 11.81 million dollars per month per company.

Regarding labor risk, Fernández mentioned that it is still premature to quantify the possible number of jobs that could be lost or the reduction in production and exports. Companies are evaluating different strategies to mitigate the impact and hope to take measures that will allow them to face this adverse situation in the best way possible.
