Mario Soto's close associates believe that the situation will be difficult to endure. For the moment, the PRI, PAN, and MC maintain good coordination in Congress, although a dialogue has not yet started from the Palacio de Cantera. The leader of the faction is observing the negotiations of other parliamentary groups, while deputies close to the Escobedo Group urge pressure to obtain benefits.
Anylú Bendición, Grecia Benavides, and Jesús Elizondo presented a report to standardize the judicial reform before March with the aim of including the issue in the agenda, but they did not receive the necessary support from the other factions. The second ordinary period of the first year of the local Congress has begun in a tense atmosphere due to discussions about the 2025 Budget, in which only the coordinators of the PRI, PAN, and MC have participated so far, leaving Morena out of the conversations.
In the coordination of the party under Mario Soto’s direction, concerns arise, as in a potential negotiation of the budget, MC would not require support from the 4T to obtain financing or more resources for flagship projects. The relationship between the governor and Palacio de Cantera has put the local Morena group in an uncomfortable position, making it difficult for them to pressure the governor on issues such as the political trial against him.
Soto Esquer hopes that the support given in December against the budget cuts promoted by the PRI and the PAN will be recognized from Palacio de Cantera. However, so far they remain on the sidelines of the negotiations and fear that Governor Samuel García will not fulfill the commitments made to Morena. The 4T seeks to include key topics from their federal agenda in the discussions, such as strengthening social programs and a significant budget allocation to carry out the judicial election.
They trust that the solid relationship between the state governor and President Claudia Sheinbaum will result in benefits for them in these agreements. Meanwhile, the Morena faction in Congress remains fragmented. Close sources do not rule out possible changes in the coming weeks, although they doubt the swift realization of an agreement.
