After 25 days in prison, Karina Barrón regained her freedom on March 26th, and the first thing she did was reunite with her three children. The former official from Monterrey, who faced a lawsuit from Senator Waldo Fernández for defamation, shared a photograph on Facebook with the children celebrating her freedom. "Today, thank God, I am with my little chicks," Barrón wrote. The former deputy also thanks God, her mother, her brothers, and other relatives. "I thank God, my mommy, my brothers, my aunts, my godmothers, my family, my neighbors. To the pastors, the fathers, the entire congregations, and each person who joined in prayer for me and kept an eye on my little chicks." Barrón firmly believes in divine justice and that God's timing is perfect. "And I am sure that there is a great purpose in all of this, everything will fall into its place," she shared. "But today I will just enjoy and let myself be pampered by my little chicks and my family. Thank you, thank you, thank you… God bless you all." On Thursday, Barrón regained her freedom through a reparative agreement. A judge determined the suspension of the criminal process. However, this determination is conditional upon the fulfillment of measures over a period of 18 months. She will have to pay 173 thousand pesos monthly as damage compensation until she completes a total of 3 million 223 thousand pesos. She must also not have contact with the accusing party or make statements about the case. She will also have to complete 30 hours of community service and participate in campaigns to prevent false accusations.
