InnovaFest LATAM 2025: Cements Mexico's Role as a Regional Innovation Hub

Latin America's largest innovation fair kicks off in Mexico, gathering thousands of inventors, investors, and corporations to discuss cutting-edge technologies and secure over 800 million pesos in investments.

InnovaFest LATAM 2025, Latin America's largest innovation fair, kicked off in Morelos on December 4-5, gathering over 3,700 inventors from 22 countries and global corporations like Samsung, Pfizer, Volvo, and Meta. The event solidifies Mexico's position as a regional innovation hub.

The forum brings together scientists, entrepreneurs, investors, and officials to analyze the role of innovation, leadership, and risk-taking in the face of economic and social transformation. The event is structured around five central axes: Integrated Management of the Water-Energy-Food Nexus; Electromobility and Urban Transformation; Biotechnology and Genomic Medicine; Aerospace Innovation; and Entrepreneurship as a Development Engine, all aimed at promoting scalable and sustainable solutions.

Organized by the Ministries of Economy, Science, and Health, in coordination with the Government of Morelos, the initiative aims to strengthen regional innovation and support inventors and entrepreneurs by creating an ecosystem that connects talent with strategic investment.

At the inaugural ceremony, Mexico's Secretary of Economy, Marcelo Ebrard, stated that this edition of InnovaFest could attract over 800 million pesos in investments, a potential record for the private sector in a forum of this kind. The event also features a Ministerial Meeting for Latin America and the Caribbean, focusing on regional cooperation in science and technology to tackle common challenges.

Among the emblematic projects showcased are Olinia (mini electric vehicles), Taruk (the first electric bus manufactured in Mexico), the Halcón 2.1 light sports aircraft, and the Mantarraya flying car prototype for emergency operations.

Dr. David Kershenobich, Secretary of Health, highlighted that scientific progress is only relevant when it transforms people's lives. He discussed Mexico's initiatives, such as PRONAM, genomic medicine, and the 'Plan México', aimed at integrating cutting-edge technology nationwide. He also noted the importance of addressing both infectious and chronic diseases in today's epidemiological landscape, leveraging tools like AI and advanced therapies that were inaccessible just a decade ago.
