This morning, the president of Mexico City, Claudia Sheinbaum, referred to the 17-year prison sentence imposed on influencer Rodolfo 'Fofo' Márquez for the crime of attempted femicide. In her words, the president stated emphatically: "Zero impunity for femicide."

The judge in charge of the case also ordered Márquez to pay a fine of 67,313 pesos and an amount of 277,400 pesos as compensation for moral and material damages. Additionally, he was required to undergo psychological treatment with a gender perspective for 2 years.

The conviction was issued by the judge of the Criminal Trial Court of the Judicial District of Tlalnepantla, after being found guilty of beating a woman in a parking lot in February 2024. Márquez was accused of assaulting a 52-year-old woman in a parking lot in Naucalpan. He was then transferred to the Tlalnepantla Penitentiary Center and Social Reintegration.

In a video that went viral on social media, the aggression is observed in the Plaza de Fuentes, where 'Fofo' Márquez attacked the woman while she was trying to get into her vehicle after a dispute over a damaged mirror.

The victim got out of her vehicle to resolve the incident with the driver of the affected car, at which point Márquez physically assaulted her. Bystanders assisted the victim while the aggressor fled the scene, according to the Attorney General's Office of the State of Mexico.

The arrest of Rodolfo 'Fofo' Márquez took place on April 4 of last year when he was apprehended by elements of the Attorney General's Office of the State of Mexico, the Federal Secretariat of Security and Citizen Protection, and the municipal police.
