Three former municipal police officers from Naucalpan have been linked to a process for abuse of authority and torture against a transgender woman. On July 27 of last year, the victim was on Avenida Parque de Chapultepec when she saw the police officers dragging two women and a man identified as Carlos. When she approached to question the officers about the reason for the detention, they told her not to get involved. The woman began recording the events, and in response, the officers physically and verbally assaulted her, and requested the support of other police units. When the reinforcements arrived, María Fernanda 'N' and Eder Joaquín 'N' got out of the patrol cars, subdued the victim, and forced her to delete the video. They then put her in the back seat of the unit, where they handcuffed her. Once subdued, the officers drove to the San Miguel Atoto neighborhood, where the now-investigated officers beat her in different parts of her body before forcing her to get out of the vehicle. After the assault, the victim reported the violence to the Public Ministry of the State of Mexico Prosecutor's Office. After intelligence work, they identified the probable responsible parties and requested an arrest warrant against María Fernanda 'N', Riche Joannan 'N', and Eder Joaquín 'N' for their probable participation in the crimes of abuse of authority and torture. After being arrested, the active-duty police officers from Naucalpan were admitted to the Reclusorio known as Barrientos, in the municipality of Tlalnepantla, where they were placed at the disposal of a Control Judge. After analyzing the data provided and collected by the Prosecutor's Office, it was determined that they would be linked to the process and given a three-month period for complementary investigation, maintaining the precautionary measure of preventive detention. If found guilty, they could face a sentence of up to 30 years in prison for the crime of torture, and nine years for the crime of abuse of authority.
