Mexican lucha libre is in mourning after the passing of Celso Reyes Daza, known as Ciclón Ramírez. The World Wrestling Council and the independent circuit lost a prominent figure. A statement on his official Facebook page reported his death. The message expressed: "With deep sorrow we regret to inform that today our beloved Celso Reyes Daza ‘Ciclón Ramírez’, ‘The King of Topes’ has passed away. His legacy will always live in the memory of his family, friends, and noble fans. Rest in peace".
Reyes Daza debuted in March 1982 in Nuevo Laredo, Tamaulipas, under the name Ovni, later using names like Pegaso, Mr. Ramírez, and Tiburón. In 1988, he adopted the identity of Ciclón Ramírez, presenting himself as the fictitious brother of the legendary Huracán Ramírez, a stage in which he reached his highest recognition in Pancracio. He was part of the trio Las Saetas del Ring alongside Águila Solitaria and Pantera, winning three-man championships in Nuevo León, Veracruz, and the Federal District.
He highlighted his rivalry with El Felino, which culminated in the loss of his mask on July 9, 1993, in Luchas de Apuestas. In recent years, he dedicated time to training and promoting his son Ciclón Ramírez Jr. in the independent circuit and also supported his nephew Shelhua. Among the titles he won are the CMLL World Welterweight Championship, several National Championships in various categories, the IWRG Intercontinental Welterweight Championship, and numerous three-man championships in different regions of Mexico.
