Explosion on Pemex Pipeline in Oaxaca: Three Dead, Four Injured

This Tuesday afternoon, an explosion was reported on the Pemex Nuevo Teapa-Salina Cruz pipeline, which runs through the Loma Larga area in Oaxaca, leaving a death toll of three people and four injured at the moment. The oil company, led by Víctor Rodríguez, reported that it responded to the incident report, which occurred while personnel was performing nitrogen injection work. "Emergency protocols were activated." Unfortunately, three people lost their lives, and four others were taken to nearby hospitals with the support of the state's Civil Protection, who reported and offered condolences to the families and friends of the deceased. Sheinbaum praised Pemex's results but warned: "We will see if in 2027 it no longer requires support." "The company reiterates its solidarity and permanent accompaniment to the bereaved, to whom it will provide institutional support at all times," it said in its statement, without offering more details about the disaster. Incidents at the oil company have been a cause for concern for rating agencies, as in recent years it has recorded various safety failures, explosions, and spills in refineries and offshore platforms, with the highest incidence in 2024, in a context of operational complications and the company's business model.
