Actor Rafael Inclán a Victim of Virtual Kidnapping in Mexico

Actor Rafael Inclán was the victim of a virtual kidnapping during the filming of a telenovela. His original plan was to travel to California to participate in the play 'Aventurera,' but a mistake changed the course when he lost his visa on the plane. As a result, Rafael Inclán remained in the hotel, where he received a call from the kidnapper who threatened him with the presence of hitmen in the building. The virtual kidnapping occurred through a phone call, where the kidnapper demanded money from comedian Rafael Inclán not to harm his colleagues on the Mexican telenovela: 'They told me there was a group of hitmen in the hotel where the telenovela was being filmed. It was a gamble, it might be happening or not, in my case, I ended up more annoyed than scared for falling for it,' concluded the icon of fichera cinema in the same interview. Virtual kidnapping is considered a telephone extortion, as reported on the official website of the Government of Mexico. It is characterized by having no direct contact with the victims and regularly threatening to cause harm to a family member or close person. Once the contact is initiated, victims are instructed to follow the instructions to the letter, including money deposits or moving to different locations. In most cases, they are asked to turn off the cell phone, which is when the criminals call other family members to ask for ransom for the involved person, who is unreachable. If you are a victim of this crime or as a prevention, the authorities recommend following these steps: Identify the number, End the call, Report to the authorities. It was all a simulation through an audio: 'They took advantage of it, it was express and by phone (...) I could hear how they were breaking bones, screams,' explained actor Rafael Inclán. He even mentioned that producer Juan Osorio suspected immediately and activated the protocol to help him, although at that moment the distrust was total: 'I doubted if they were the good guys or not.' With the calm recovered, he reflected on what happened: 'I recommend hanging up, but the truth is I don't know how to act in that in life. I heard them hitting them all (...) 'we are waiting for someone I don't know, we are going to blow him up because he did something to the son of a friend,' they told me and I foolishly believed it,' he recounted in an interview for the channel Tlnovelas, published on YouTube in February 2020. The problem caused him stress and so he decided to act to safeguard the rest of the cast, but soon paranoia arrived: 'Upon hearing all that, I panicked and asked my son Rafael to deliver the money (...) at that moment I thought about saving someone, but nothing was happening, there was no kidnapper'. As the hours passed, the truth was revealed. Although there was an economic loss, he assured that 'it was not so much money compared to what was requested at the beginning'. The situation was resolved when a specialized group intervened: 'Later a security group from Oaxaca arrived, it was an anti-kidnapping unit and they took me out of there, nothing happened'. The actor Rafael Inclán was a victim of a virtual kidnapping during the filming of a telenovela and instead of having a production anecdote, it all ended up becoming an episode of his life marked by fear, manipulation, and confusion. It all happened while he was staying in a hotel in Oaxaca during the filming of 'Mi marido tiene más familia'.
