
A bus carrying supporters of Morena was involved in an accident on the Mitla-Tehuantepec highway, resulting in several fatalities. The accident occurred when the bus overturned on the highway, allegedly while returning from a rally at the Zócalo in Mexico City to Oaxaca, specifically at kilometer 83+200, in Santo Domingo Narro.
Local authorities and relevant institutions responded immediately to the emergency. Ambulances from the Mexican Red Cross in Tlacolula, as well as rescue units OAX-157 and OAX-158 from the Mitla and Jalapa del Marqués toll booths, arrived at the scene to assist the 40 passengers on the damaged bus.
Oaxaca senator for Morena, Antonio Morales Toledo, expressed his sorrow over the incident and informed about the tragic event. Although no detailed information was provided about the exact number of fatalities, he confirmed that there were deceased individuals and extended his condolences to the families and friends of those affected.
In a message, Morales Toledo stated: “With a heart full of pain, we inform you that, as a consequence of an accident on the Mitla-Tehuantepec highway, authorities report deceased persons. To the families and loved ones of those who tragically departed, we express our deepest condolences.” He also assured that authorities would provide the necessary support and assistance to the affected families and continue working to support the injured in the accident.
