Oaxaca Holds Vigil for Missing Persons

Mothers searching for their loved ones and activists in Oaxaca lit candles in memory of the victims of Teuchitlán, Jalisco, stating that the state is in mourning and national vigil. Emotionally, they demanded the return of their loved ones alive and denounced the horror experienced at the Izaguirre ranch.

"We want them alive!" they expressed, uniting as one voice to demand an end to forced disappearances at the national level. They criticized that it is they, the searching mothers and fathers, who must demand that the State fulfill its duty.

In this act of solidarity, women's defenders and members of civil society also joined. According to data from the State Commission for the Search of Persons in Oaxaca, the previous year around 650 disappearances were reported in the state, but the searching families indicate that there are more than 4,000 disappeared persons in Oaxaca.
