Lion Spotted Walking Freely in Ocoyoacac

An adult lion was spotted walking through the streets of San Pedro Cholula, municipality of Ocoyoacac, in the State of Mexico, causing alarm among the local residents. A video shared on social media shows the lion walking down Pino street, recorded by a passing driver.

The presence of the lion on the streets has caused fear among citizens due to the potential danger posed by a wild animal of that size. However, no incidents of attacks on people have been reported so far. In an image shared by reporter Jorge Becerril, a man can be seen escorting the lion to a home in the municipality.

Authorities arrived at the scene to capture the feline and secure it, but the animal's owners took to the streets to return it home. The lion appeared to be in good condition and was being cared for by its owners, as observed.

In a related context, months ago, operations were conducted in the same San Pedro Cholula where several exotic animals were rescued and a group of people was detained. The presence of these animals in the area has caused unrest in the community.

Despite the lack of official information, it is speculated that the lion may have escaped from a foundation where it was housed, as it has been seen accompanied by a person. The specimen, approximately two meters long and one meter tall, was seen walking through the streets of Ocoyoacac. The recommendation in similar situations is to act with caution, remain calm, and alert the relevant authorities.
