The president of Mexico City, Claudia Sheinbaum, emphasized that former president Andrés Manuel López Obrador continues to fight for Mexico from another perspective, thus remaining a prominent figure in public life. Her statements were made on the occasion of AMLO's 71st birthday, where she extended her congratulations, hoping they reach him through the people who will celebrate with him in Chiapas, his place of residence.
When asked what message she would send to her successor on this special day, Sheinbaum expressed: "For us, President López Obrador is a man who has dedicated his life to transformation and is at least the main political leader of the 21st century and the leader who guided our country." She highlighted that, in her opinion, López Obrador has not withdrawn from public life as was announced at the end of his term, but continues to fight from another front, now writing a book about the cultural greatness of Mexico.
According to Sheinbaum, the fact that López Obrador is documenting the cultural wealth of Mexico, which includes indigenous peoples, is a way of continuing to fight from another front. She believes that this book, once published, will be a relevant title for the historical memory of the country. To conclude the conference, the president of Mexico City sang the morning songs alongside a photo of both and expressed her wish that López Obrador is resting properly in Palenque.
