The head of the department, Raúl Lozano, commented: "The investigation has officially begun". The municipality of Pesquería is part of the MORENA (MC) corridor from Guadalupe, Juárez, and Cerralvo, however, it is one of the districts where violence has had the greatest impact and few significant changes have been seen under opposition governments. The investigation, led by the FGR, could involve municipal elements while MC distances itself. Although the preliminary blame falls on the person who guarded the pyrotechnics and who died in the fire, various sectors in the state point to "Cisco" Esquivel for lack of surveillance and even complicity from local authorities. The drama of the disaster adds to the recurring rumor that the mayor may have lost his U.S. visa. This version intensified when the State Attorney General's Office expanded the investigation into the alleged robberies of neighboring homes by municipal elements. Neighbors denounced that Pesquería firefighters and police stole up to 140,000 pesos and various items. State Attorney Javier Flores stated: "We are going to investigate it like any other case, we don't know yet if they are police or firefighters, but we are starting the files". In turn, the mayor even implicated allied authorities: "They are being attended to by C4 personnel... we also have to consider that there were many municipal elements, and among them, state and federal forces". Within the State Attorney General's Office, it is estimated that due to the explosion, the deceased will be blamed, while the guilt of local authorities has not yet been determined. Once the investigation is concluded at the state level, it will be referred to the Attorney General of the Republic (FGR). The situation also affects the Palace of Cantera, and the Secretary of the Environment has already distanced itself from the situation and also reported that the FGR would be in charge of the investigation. It should be recalled that "Cisco" Esquivel arrived at the party from the PRI, and his victory was also boosted by the campaign in Juárez and the efforts of Baltazar Martínez. "Regarding this case, I inform you that the FGR has already taken it over due to its competence on explosive matters, as marked by the national General Law on Firearms and Explosives". The tragedy in Pesquería that left four dead and a couple of homes in ruins complicates Mayor Francisco Esquivel.
