On Saturday, the Interoceánico train struck the rear of a trailer at a railway crossing in the state of Chiapas. According to a statement from Ferrocarril Interoceánico, the incident occurred at 9:55 AM in the community of Cardona, in the municipality of Pichucalco, Chiapas. Apparently, the trailer crossed the path of the passenger train on the Coatzacoalcos-Pakal Ná route, causing a collision, according to official sources. Photographs documenting the impact were shared on social media. It was identified that the trailer was a tanker, and its rear end was the part that was hit. None of the 148 passengers on the train or the crew were injured, and there were no reported casualties. As a result of the incident, the train's locomotive was damaged. Ferrocarril Interoceánico confirmed that its contingency plan was immediately activated, which involved sending another train and buses to transport passengers to their destinations.
