In Progreso, Yucatán, President Claudia Sheinbaum witnessed the signing of an agreement to universalize disability pensions. This includes support for beneficiaries aged 0-64, enhancing their quality of life.


Historic Agreement for Disability Pension Signed in Progreso

President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo, accompanied by the Secretary of Welfare, Ariadna Montiel Reyes, and the Governor of Yucatán, Joaquín Díaz Mena, signed an agreement for the universality of the Pension for the Well-Being of Persons with Disabilities. This agreement expands the coverage of this pension from 0 to 64 years in Yucatán, ensuring a better quality of life for its inhabitants.

During the closing of the tour led by President Sheinbaum in southeastern Mexico, the signing took place in the municipality of Progreso, Yucatán. Secretary Montiel highlighted that this agreement will allow the inclusion of new beneficiaries aged 30 to 64 with permanent disabilities, adding to the 29,000 children and adolescents who already receive this pension in the state.

Starting in 2024, the bimonthly payment will be three thousand 100 pesos directly to the beneficiaries through the Welfare Bank card. During the event at the Progreso Sports Unit, Montiel stated: "Today is a historic day for Yucatán because the justice dreamed of by Felipe Carrillo Puerto will be materialized through the signing of the agreement for the universalization of the pension."

It was also emphasized that the Pensions and Programs will continue throughout the country, fulfilling President Sheinbaum's commitment to improve the living conditions of 30 million beneficiary households. The Secretary mentioned the incorporation of the Women Well-Being Pension, which will start for women aged 63 and 64, recognizing their efforts and contributions to society with financial support that will contribute to their independence.

Additionally, information was provided about the Health and Welfare Census of the House by House Health program, where a health questionnaire will be conducted for the beneficiaries to subsequently receive medical attention at their homes starting in February.
