New Housing Project in Querétaro

The construction of 16,000 housing units is projected in Querétaro, generating 72,000 jobs. Reservoirs in Pescadores and Puertas de San Miguel are being evaluated.

In Querétaro, the National Housing Plan aims to build 16,000 homes that would generate 72,000 direct jobs, in addition to actions such as freezing credits to benefit more than 64,000 people. In this context, working groups have been initiated to review proposals for land reserves and the technical and administrative aspects of the project.

Carlos Astudillo Suárez, director of the Institute of Housing in the State of Querétaro (IVEQ), reported that two sites are being evaluated for the construction of homes: Puertas de San Miguel, with about 60 single-family lots, and Pescadores, with space for 25 homes. A central location, access to services, and proximity to educational spaces are prioritized to advance the project.

Regarding progress, Astudillo Suárez mentioned: 'We have two proposals on the table: Pescadores and Puertas de San Miguel, which are the ones we are further along with and are working on.' Although there is no concrete date for the start of construction, the requirements to support the project and the donation of land are being met.

In light of the reduction of hectares to be donated from 90 to 13, the director explained that not all available lands meet the characteristics required by the federation, despite having a land reserve. Working groups with different federal entities such as Sedatu, Insus, Infonavit, and Conavi focus on legal, technical, and administrative aspects to advance the housing construction project in Querétaro.
