The Autonomous Confederation of Workers and Employees of Mexico (CATEM) in Querétaro is strengthening its presence in the region by announcing its expansion plan to reach the 18 municipalities of the state. At an event highlighted by the inauguration of the new State Executive Committee 2024-2030, the importance of respecting the free will of workers in their decision to join unions was emphasized, as well as the need to combat white and paper unions.
Pedro Haces Barba, the current general secretary of CATEM, underscored the economic growth of Querétaro and the job opportunities that will arise due to the relocalization in the state. Currently, the organization has 8 municipal representations in the region and plans to expand its presence to all 18 municipalities.
During the ceremony, Erick Osornio Medina, leader of CATEM in Querétaro, detailed the next steps of the Confederation, including the opening of 5 health clinics for workers, which will also be open to the general public. Osornio Medina committed to defending labor rights, improving benefits and working conditions, as well as promoting social programs to support workers' families.
In response, Governor Mauricio Kuri expressed his commitment to legal certainty and formal employment in the state, showing his willingness to collaborate closely to benefit workers. With this new expansion strategy, CATEM aims to strengthen its presence in Querétaro and expand its services for the benefit of the labor community in the region.
