Closure of Bars in Querétaro Due to Violence

Two establishments in the municipality of Querétaro remain closed after being shut down due to reinforced inspections in nightclubs following violent incidents at the bar Los Cantaritos. The Secretary of Government, Federico De Los Cobos, reported that since November 9, 14 bars and clubs have been closed, 12 of which have already reopened and two continue to have unresolved irregularities detected by the Municipal Coordination of Civil Protection.

One of the establishments, located in Centro Sur, had issues with its alcohol license and operated outside the permitted hours, while the other, located in Antea, lacked a current approval from the coordination. De Los Cobos explained that most of the closures were due to civil protection issues, either for incomplete or outdated documentation. Complaints of various kinds are received, not only related to clubs, bars, and restaurants, but also on issues such as street vending.

At the state level, around 80 nightclubs were closed, and approximately 40 of them remained closed at the beginning of the year, according to the state Secretary of Government, Carlos Alcaraz.
