Investigation Continues on Real Estate Fraud in Querétaro

The Council of Notaries of Querétaro continues to await progress on the investigations related to the alleged real estate fraud revealed by the director of Infonavit on December 18th. The possible implication of the former head of Notary 24 in this case is being considered.

President Carlos Rafael Altamirano Alcocer indicated that the investigation is in the hands of local and federal prosecution. So far, there is no information indicating the participation of any public notary in these events that could constitute a crime. "There are probabilities that they are referring to the notary who was removed due to his involvement in some deeds," he mentioned.

Altamirano also clarified that the confusion generated in the media regarding the alleged responsibility of a particular notary's office in the state has been resolved. "Indeed, they were not referring to the mentioned notary. Unfortunately, notary number 9 in the state was mentioned on the list, but not the notary. The issue has been clarified," he explained.

The Council expressed its willingness to cooperate in the investigation process to determine if any notary from the entity was involved in these practices. "We are willing to cooperate on any deed, as the public record is accessible to those conducting the investigation," Altamirano added.

Regarding the information provided by the federal institution, it was revealed that in Querétaro, 41 homes were sold up to 249 times, indicating the existence of a criminal network involving Infonavit workers, notaries, law firms, and appraisers.

Finally, referring to the detention of individuals practicing law illegally, the Council informed that they have a professional to provide free notarial legal advice. For any doubts or complaints, they are willing to offer this service.
