Security in the municipality of Rayones is a priority for the state, especially after the violent incidents that occurred on Monday that put the population on alert, according to Javier Navarro, Secretary General of Government. It has been agreed to establish a mixed operations base in the area, with the presence of various authorities such as the regional general, the general of the Seventh Military Zone, the National Guard, and the Secretary of Security.
"The operation of the base must be immediate. The governor's agreement was to provide all support to that region, similar to the citrus area where some situations have arisen that disrupt our security," Navarro stated, highlighting the importance of reinforcing containment operations. The idea is for the mixed operation bases to remain on site to guarantee the security of the area.
Regarding the events in Rayones, it was initially reported that bodies were found, but according to Javier Flores, Attorney General of Justice of the State, what was discovered were bloodstains and around 2,000 bullet casings. The Civil Force reported that it would keep the Wall Operation active in the municipality of Rayones after a presumed confrontation with high-powered weapons was reported.
On Monday, around 8:30 PM, a call was received regarding gunfire in Rayones, a place with no history of violent events, with only one homicide recorded in eight years. Civil Force personnel were in the Montemorelos detachment, preparing a deployment of the Wall Operation in the area, and upon receiving the report, they sent units to Rayones that arrived around midnight.
Neighbors reported a shootout that was presumably caused by a confrontation between two criminal cells trying to enter the area. Civil Force, as the first responder, took control of the situation and stated that it would keep the Wall Operation active in the region with the support of the National Guard and Defense. Authorities will assess the need to extend the operation to ensure the safety and tranquility of the local population.
