Destruction of Organized Crime Vehicles in Reynosa

The Attorney General's Office of the Republic in Tamaulipas carried out the destruction of several vehicles known as "monsters," which had homemade armor and were used by organized crime groups in their confrontations both among themselves and with security forces. The action took place in Reynosa, where a total of 33 vehicles with such armor were destroyed, which had been seized in different confrontations in Tamaulipas and were linked to 29 files of criminal groups.

In the development of this procedure, the Federal Public Prosecutor's Office was present, coordinating the identification of the vehicles and carrying out the corresponding procedures. Official experts and personnel from the Internal Control Body of the FGR also participated to ensure that the process complied with current regulations. In addition, the authorities from the Secretary of National Defense and the State Guard secured and made those vehicles available to the Federal Public Prosecutor's Office.

Subsequently, on November 11, it was reported that in Chiapas, during a search, several vehicles with homemade armor, weapons, cartridges, and magazines of different calibers were seized. In that operation, 29 vehicles (two of them "monsters"), four motorcycles, 64 long guns, 578 magazines, and 1,196 cartridges, among other items, were confiscated. Despite there being no arrests in this case, the FGR initiated an investigation for the crimes of firearm possession and possession of cartridges and magazines exclusively for the Armed Forces against those responsible.

Throughout May of this year, federal authorities also carried out the destruction, again in Reynosa, of 42 vehicles used by organized crime, which would be linked to 39 investigation files.
