Rosarito Mine Rescue Operations Continue

Rescuers work tirelessly to extract four miners trapped underground at the Santa Fe mine in Sinaloa. After successfully saving 21 workers, specialists continue the dangerous operation of stabilizing tunnels and searching for survivors.

Rescue operations for the four miners trapped in a mine in Rosarito, Sinaloa, continued throughout the night, according to the National Civil Protection Coordination. In a statement, the federal agency reported that after the collapse of the Jales Dam into the Santa Fe mine, which occurred last Wednesday, March 25, in the locality of Chele, rescue teams have maintained uninterrupted operational activities. The Army sent 38 elements from an emergency response battalion to Sinaloa on Friday to support the rescue efforts for the four miners, the Secretariat of National Defense said in a statement. The Secretariat of Security and Citizen Protection (SSPC) reported that the CNPC will coordinate rescue actions from the command post while also providing support to the workers' families. What rescue operations are being carried out for the 4 trapped miners? Through a statement, the CNPC detailed the actions being taken to rescue the four miners still trapped after 21 workers were rescued alive. It stated that throughout the night, specialized brigades from the National Defense and the company Industrial Minera Sinaloa have continued to advance in the exploration of the mine's ramps. 'This progress is being made in a technical and careful manner, as the galleries are obstructed with mud. From this group, 21 miners managed to exit unharmed on their own, while four people remain trapped.' 'To stabilize ground conditions and protect rescuers, plywood panels have been installed,' it was explained. Civil Protection indicated that so far, the brigades have managed to secure and advance 264 meters on wooden planks, reaching the point where technical analysis indicated the possible location of the first miner; however, after verification on-site, the worker was not located. It assured that the next priority objective for the brigades is to continue exploring 1.5 kilometers of ramps, while maintaining the placement of wooden supports to ensure safe progress. Additionally, it announced that the number of specialized personnel in the area will be increased to accelerate rescue operations this Saturday. What is known about the collapse at the Rosarito mine? The mine in question belongs to the company Industrial Minera Sinaloa, located in the community of Chele, where state and federal authorities are working to locate and rescue the miners through 'joint extraction strategies.' Meanwhile, the CNPC reported that the incident occurred at 2:00 PM on March 25 and was reported to municipal authorities until 2:20 PM on March 26. 'Upon receiving the official notification from state authorities, the Government of Mexico immediately activated federal response protocols and deployed task forces to the site,' it pointed out. The CNPC stated that according to technical reports, 'at the time of the geomembrane rupture, 25 workers were in the crew performing excavations.'
