
The Attorney General of Chiapas, Jorge Luis Llaven Abarca, together with the Secretary of Public Security, Óscar Alberto Aparicio Avendaño, reported on the security operations carried out last Sunday in San Cristóbal de Las Casas and Mapastepec. During these operations, 16 people were detained, and drugs and other illicit items were seized.
In San Cristóbal de Las Casas, 14 searches were carried out in buildings used as car dismantling sites, resulting in the discovery of more than 200 tons of auto parts. Additionally, 100 vehicles and 120 motorcycles were confiscated. Authorities detained 16 individuals, 14 of whom were caught in the act. Two arrest warrants were executed, one against Manuel "N", a religious leader sought for gang activity and attacks against peace, and another against Pedro "N" for illegal deprivation of liberty in the form of kidnapping.
Moreover, firearms, cartridges, and illegal drugs were found, currently under forensic analysis. Jorge Luis Llaven Abarca emphasized the coordination in the operation with federal and municipal agencies, highlighting the importance of these actions to safeguard the tranquility of the inhabitants and visitors of San Cristóbal.
In Mapastepec, 35 surveillance cameras placed by criminal groups to monitor authorities were dismantled following citizen complaints to C5. Three individuals were arrested, and vehicles, motorcycles, and prohibited substances were confiscated.
In total, more than 100 cameras have been disabled in Chiapas through operations in various municipalities. Óscar Alberto Aparicio Avendaño detailed the involvement of more than two thousand personnel, including the Immediate Reaction Force Pakal, the National Guard, and the Mexican Army, supported by helicopters, drones, and advanced technology. A contingent from the FRIP will remain in San Cristóbal and the Highlands to follow up on these actions.
Both officials reiterated Governor Eduardo Ramírez Aguilar's commitment to maintaining the rule of law throughout the Chiapas territory.
