Irregularities in the Judiciary and Suicide of the Priest

The Secretary of Governance, Rosa Icela Rodríguez, indicated concerning vices in the Judiciary such as nepotism. Additionally, Claudia Sheinbaum lamented the murder of priest Marcelo Pérez in Chiapas, investigating his homicide after previous threats.


Irregularities in the Judiciary and Suicide of the Priest

The Secretary of the Interior, Rosa Icela Rodríguez, identified various irregularities in the Judiciary, including nepotism. It was revealed that the person with the most relatives working in this institution has up to 26 family members. Additionally, it was reported that 49 percent of Judiciary employees have at least one relative working in the same, which amounts to 24,546 people. It was also noted that 85.4 percent of magistrates and 67 percent of judges have family members within the institution.

Mario Delgado presented the Healthy Life Strategy in schools, which prohibits the sale of junk food, such as chips and sodas, starting March 29, 2025. This agreement will be mandatory for the National Educational System. It was emphasized that, according to data from the National Health Survey, the majority of schools sell unhealthy food and sugary beverages. Furthermore, the consumption of natural water in educational institutions will be promoted, and the installation of drinking fountains for this purpose will be encouraged.

The opening of the registration for the Rita Cetina scholarship was announced, starting from November 11 and available until December 2. This scholarship will benefit all students in basic education in the country, starting its application in secondary school. It is estimated that the financial support of 1,900 pesos per family will begin to be delivered in 2025.

President Claudia Sheinbaum condemned the assassination of priest Marcelo Pérez in Chiapas and assured that investigations are being carried out so that it does not go unpunished. Sheinbaum mentioned that the Secretary of the Interior, Rosa Icela Rodríguez, is coordinating with local authorities to address this case, in collaboration with the Chiapas prosecutor's office and regional ecclesiastical authorities. The homicide of the priest occurred on October 20, and since 2021 he had received threats from a criminal organization in the Los Altos de Chiapas region.

During the 'morning' conference, it was revealed that a price had been put on the priest’s life for up to 1 million pesos.
