
In San Felipe, Guanajuato, a group of people was shot by armed individuals in the early morning of Monday, February 24. The incident resulted in the death of two women and left 14 people injured, including a 15-year-old minor and an 11-year-old child, the latter in serious condition in San Bartolo. According to reports, the victims were attending a gathering inside a warehouse. The State Attorney General confirmed that among the deceased victims were five women and three men.
In another act of violence in Guanajuato, on Wednesday, February 19, a mass shooting took place in Irapuato during a wake. Two people died and 11 were injured. In response to the violence, 17 alleged members of criminal cells operating in the area were arrested last Friday.
The two women who died in the San Felipe incident have not yet been identified, reported the State Attorney General. The wounded were taken to the community hospital and some sought medical attention on their own. At the time of the statement, 9 of the hospitalized injured remained unidentified, as did the other five who were self-transported. The Attorney General processed the crime scene and began investigations to clarify what happened.
This tragic event in San Felipe marks the second mass shooting in Guanajuato in less than 24 hours. In the previous incident, which occurred in Cortazar on Sunday, February 23, eight people were killed at a home in the community of Alameda de Vista Hermosa. The assailants fired indiscriminately from vehicles before fleeing, resulting in the death of two women: a 19-year-old and another over 36 years old. Despite the quick arrival of the Municipal Police and Civil Protection paramedics, the perpetrators of the crime managed to escape, and no arrests have been reported so far.
