Seventh detention in San Fernando after armed attack

Elements of the Navy Secretariat (Semar) detained 11 people who previously attacked them with firearms in San Fernando, Tamaulipas. During the confrontation, four attackers were injured and one lost their life. The Secretary of Security and Citizen Protection (SSPC), Omar GarcĂ­a, praised the quick and effective response of Semar colleagues on social media.

While patrolling in the Santa Rita ejido, San Fernando municipality, naval personnel encountered a group of armed men who, upon noticing their presence, opened fire on them. The sailors, finding themselves in danger, responded to the aggression and managed to control the situation within minutes.

After repelling the attack, 10 individuals were arrested, four of whom were injured and received immediate medical attention. The injured were taken to a nearby hospital under custody, where one of them unfortunately died at the scene. Additionally, authorities secured a considerable arsenal that included 16 long firearms, a Barrett rifle, ammunition of various calibers, magazines, and four vehicles.

In a subsequent search of the area, an additional person who participated in the aggression was identified and also detained. The detainees were informed of the reasons for their arrest, their rights were notified, and along with all the seized items, they were made available to the corresponding Public Prosecutor's Office to determine their legal situation.

In addition to this operation, in another action in Tamaulipas, in Reynosa, the Mexican Army and the state Prosecutor's Office discovered an abandoned vehicle reported as stolen, where 50 kilograms of methamphetamine were found.
