Mexican Authorities Detain Members of 'The Russians' Crime Group

Mexican authorities conducted two simultaneous operations this Monday in the northern state of Sonora, detaining two members of the criminal organization 'The Russians,' linked to arms, drugs, cartridges, and cash trafficking to the USA in the municipality of San Luis Río Colorado.

The arrests were made possible thanks to intelligence work, where security elements conducted fixed, mobile, and discreet surveillance of the homes to gather information and evidence to obtain a search warrant.

The detainees are Abdel 'N', alias 'El Toro', 63 years old, who has a criminal record for intentional homicide and injuries, and Miguel Ángel 'N', 'El Torito', 32 years old.

During the inspection of the properties, doses of fentanyl, cocaine, crystal, methamphetamines, cartridges, cash, a firearm, and three vehicles were secured.

Both Abdel 'N' and Miguel Ángel 'N' were handed over to the corresponding Public Ministry agent, who will define their legal situation.

On the other hand, the homes located in the Reforma and Jalisco colonies were sealed and placed under the custody of the authorities.

The operation involved elements from the Secretariat of Security and Citizen Protection (SSPC), Secretariat of National Defense (Defense), Secretariat of the Navy (Semar), Attorney General's Office (FGR), and National Guard (GN).

From February to early November, the Government of Mexico, thanks to the 'Northern Border Operation' - agreed with the President of the United States, Donald Trump, to avoid tariffs on Mexico - detained more than 8,517 people and confiscated almost 107 tons of drugs, including 494 kilograms of fentanyl.
