In the municipality of San Nicolás, the presence of a lizard prompted the mobilization of State Civil Protection. Neighbors reported the presence of the animal at the intersection of Segunda Poniente and Bonifacio Salinas streets. The corporation responded to the report and moved to the location.
Upon arrival, Civil Protection personnel discovered that it was a small lizard, fitting in the hands of a member of the corporation. The lizard was found in a garden, and the efforts to rescue it lasted about an hour. Once captured, the lizard was handed over to Profepa for safekeeping and subsequent relocation.
The news of this animal's presence in a residential area alarmed the neighbors, who were unsure about what species it was. It is noteworthy that last year, during the summer, two reptiles were spotted in different areas of the state, one of them resembling a baby crocodile in a drain near Montemorelos. On the other hand, sightings of snakes and other reptiles were also reported in a neighborhood in southern Monterrey.
"Civil Protection Unit Nuevo León attends report of dangerous animal type lizard," the corporation reported.
