The tragedy that occurred on May 23 during the campaign closing of Lorenia Canavati and Jorge Álvarez Máynes, when the stage where the Bronco group was to perform collapsed, also impacted the Civil Protection personnel who participated in the rescue efforts in psychosocial factors, revealed Erik Cavazos, the director of the corporation.

The official participated in the review of the Third Government Report and was questioned by PAN deputy Claudia Caballero about what really happened that afternoon in San Pedro.

"On May 23, at the campaign closing event of former presidential candidate Jorge Álvarez Máynes, unfortunately nine people lost their lives and there were more than 90 injuries. It impacted Civil Protection personnel in psychosocial factors, as we will have to look at our team regarding the impact of psychological stress," Cavazos explained.

Cavazos mentioned that the emergency was exceptionally handled, conducting rescues and providing due attention to the situation. He emphasized that they managed to cover the emergency and save as many people as possible. The meteorological forecast that warned of strong winds and rains was also addressed.

Regarding the tragedy, Cavazos commented: "It was something so regrettable… we just saw it in the news from Spain (the floods from DANA in Valencia)." He was questioned whether the necessary safety protocols were followed for the event and why the stage collapsed, claiming the lives of nine people. He thanked the work of all the personnel from various agencies that responded to the emergency and mobilized to assist in the situation.

Cavazos declined to elaborate on the subject due to an ongoing investigation by the Prosecutor's Office, unable to determine exactly what happened. He acknowledged that it was a tragedy that impacted not only the injured individuals but everyone involved in that situation.
