Two die in small plane crash in Chihuahua

Two people died on Saturday after a small plane crashed in the municipality of Santa Isabel, Chihuahua, state authorities reported.

Unofficial sources from the State Prosecutor's Office confirmed that the deceased were identified as Armando 'S', the pilot, and Jesús Andrés 'L', who served as co-pilot.

The State Public Security Secretariat (SSPE) reported that the accident occurred on the road connecting the municipalities of Anáhuac and Santa Isabel, in the central region of the state, and clarified that there were no other victims.

According to local media, the Control, Command, Communication and Computing Center (C7) of Cuauhtémoc recorded the events at 1:44 p.m., when the aircraft crashed near the Santa Isabel River, where emergency teams, firefighters, and security elements arrived to cordon off the area and attend to the accident.

Expert investigations and evidence collection were left in charge of the Directorate General of Civil Aviation, which will determine the causes of the collapse.

To date, authorities have not specified the model or registration of the small plane, nor the conditions under which the flight was taking place, although preliminary versions indicate that it was a private light aircraft.

The Santa Isabel plane crash adds to the one that occurred last September when the fall of a small plane inside the Interpuerto, in the Ciudad Mitras Industrial Park, in Monterrey, Nuevo León, left two people dead, one of them being the television host Débora Estrella.
